Thai Basil Beef Rolls

Ingredients
  

  • For the Beef Filling
  • 1 lb ground beef or finely chopped beef
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 –2 red chilies finely chopped (optional)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
  • For the Rolls
  • 12 –15 spring roll wrappers
  • 1 egg beaten (for sealing)
  • Oil for frying or brushing (for baking/air frying)

Method
 

  1. Cook the Beef Filling
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef and cook until browned. Add garlic and chilies; cook for 30 seconds. Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and sesame oil. Remove from heat and fold in Thai basil.
  3. Assemble the Rolls
  4. Place a wrapper on a flat surface. Spoon 2 tablespoons of beef mixture into the center. Fold sides in and roll tightly, sealing edges with beaten egg.
  5. Cook the Rolls
  6. Pan-Fry: Fry in hot oil until golden and crispy on all sides.
  7. Air Fry: Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes.
  8. Bake: Bake at 400°F (205°C) for 15–18 minutes, flipping halfway.
  9. Serve
  10. Drain on paper towels if fried and serve hot with dipping sauce.

Notes

Substitute sweet basil if Thai basil is unavailable.
Adjust chili level to taste.
Rolls can be assembled ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
Serve with sweet chili sauce, hoisin, or soy-ginger dip.
Great as appetizers or sliced and served sushi-style.
