Ingredients

  • Base Ingredients:
  • 16 oz 1 pound elbow macaroni (uncooked)
  • 4 cups shredded cheese cheddar, mozzarella, or a cheese blend
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 4 tablespoons butter melted
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder optional
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese optional topping

Method

  1. Prepare the Crock Pot:
  2. Lightly spray the inside of your slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray.
  3. Add Ingredients:
  4. Pour in uncooked pasta, cheeses, milk, cream, sour cream, butter, and all seasonings. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Cook:
  6. Cover and cook on LOW for 2 to 3 hours. Stir once halfway through to ensure the pasta cooks evenly and the cheese melts smoothly.
  7. Check and Serve:
  8. Once the pasta is tender and creamy, turn off the heat. Add a sprinkle of Parmesan on top, cover for 5 minutes until melted, then serve warm.

Notes

  • No Boil Needed: The uncooked pasta cooks perfectly right in the slow cooker!
  • Use Fresh Cheese: Pre-shredded cheese can contain additives that prevent smooth melting.
  • Watch the Time: Overcooking can make the pasta mushy. Check for doneness after 2 hours.
  • Extra Creamy: Add a splash of milk before serving if you want it looser.
  • Customize It: Try adding jalapeños, bacon, or a breadcrumb topping before serving.
