Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 onion diced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups pasta penne, rotini, or macaroni
  • 1 cup sloppy joe sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups beef broth or water
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish optional

Method

  1. In a large skillet or pot over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess grease if needed.
  2. Add onion and bell pepper and cook for 4–5 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Stir in sloppy joe sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, broth, pasta, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Bring mixture to a gentle boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 12–15 minutes until pasta is tender, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  6. Garnish with parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • Lean ground beef helps reduce excess grease.
  • Sharp cheddar cheese gives the best flavor.
  • Add jalapeños for a spicy version.
  • Ground turkey may be substituted for beef.
  • Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 4 days.
