- Prepare the Filling
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground sausage, caramelized onions, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, paprika, pepper, and salt.
- Add the cream cheese and shredded cheese; mix until fully combined and creamy.
- Prepare the Pastry
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
- Cut the pastry into two long strips.
- Fill & Shape
- Divide the sausage mixture in half and shape each half into a long log.
- Place one sausage log on each pastry strip.
- Roll the pastry around the filling and seal the edges tightly.
- Slice each log into 6 equal pieces.
- Bake
- Place the sausage rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Whisk the egg with water and brush lightly over each roll.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds or flaky salt on top (optional).
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
