Ingredients
Method
- Add ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, diced onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper to a large bowl.
- Gently mix until the ingredients are combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Divide the mixture into 6 portions and shape each into an oval patty about ¾-inch thick.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the patties and cook for about 3–4 minutes per side, until browned. Transfer them to a plate.
- Reduce the heat to medium and add butter to the same skillet.
- Add the sliced onion and mushrooms. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly browned.
- Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir for 1 minute.
- Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring continuously.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Bring the gravy to a gentle simmer and cook for a few minutes until it starts to thicken.
- Return the browned beef patties and any accumulated juices to the skillet.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15–20 minutes, or until the patties are fully cooked and the gravy is thick and flavorful.
- Taste the gravy and adjust the seasoning as needed.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.
Notes
Mix the beef gently to keep the patties tender.
Brown the patties before adding them to the gravy for better flavor.
Use the same skillet for the gravy so the browned bits add extra flavor.
Mushrooms can be omitted if preferred.
Ground beef should reach a safe internal temperature before serving.
If the gravy becomes too thick, add a splash of beef broth.
