Ingredients
  

  • 2 ½ cups flour
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • Cream cheese frosting for topping

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat sugar and oil until creamy. Add eggs and mix well.
  4. Stir in buttermilk, vanilla, vinegar, and red food coloring.
  5. Add dry ingredients gradually until batter is smooth.
  6. Divide into pans and bake 25–30 minutes.
  7. Cool and frost with cream cheese frosting.
