Method
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, shredded cheddar, diced jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined.
- Roll the Pastry:
- Lightly flour your surface and roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle. Cut it lengthwise into two equal strips.
- Spread the Filling:
- Spread the jalapeño cream cheese mixture evenly over one strip of puff pastry.
- Top & Seal:
- Place the second pastry strip on top. Gently press the edges together.
- Cut & Twist:
- Cut into 1-inch wide strips. Twist each strip 2–3 times and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Egg Wash:
- Brush each twist with beaten egg. Sprinkle with optional toppings if desired.
- Bake:
- Bake for 18–22 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
- Cool & Serve:
- Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm for best flavor.
Notes
For extra flavor, add chicken for a jalapeño popper chicken twist.
Adjust spice level by keeping or removing jalapeño seeds.
