Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce low sodium
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes optional, for a spicy kick
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch optional, for thickening
  • Fresh parsley or green onions for garnish

Method

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
  2. Pat chicken dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the Chicken:
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken breasts for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  5. Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:
  6. In the same skillet, reduce heat slightly and add minced garlic. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  7. Stir in honey, soy sauce, and vinegar. Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  8. Thicken (Optional):
  9. Mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and stir into the sauce if you want a thicker glaze.
  10. Combine:
  11. Return chicken to the pan and coat evenly with the sauce. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until the chicken is sticky and glazed.
  12. Serve:
  13. Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions. Serve hot with rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs for a juicier, more flavorful version.
  • For baked honey garlic chicken, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes.
  • Make it spicy by adding sriracha or red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • Double the sauce if you like extra glaze for rice or veggies.
