Honey BBQ Chicken Rice

This Honey BBQ Chicken Rice is a sweet and savory one-pan style meal made with tender chicken breast, fluffy rice, and a rich honey barbecue glaze. Perfect for lazy dinners, quick chicken recipes, and easy family-friendly meals.

Ingredients
  

  • lbs boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp chopped green onions optional

Method
 

  1. Cook the Chicken
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Cook for 5–7 minutes until lightly browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. Cook the Rice
  4. In the same skillet, add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Stir in rice and toast for 1 minute. Add chicken broth, bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15–18 minutes until rice is tender.
  5. Make Honey BBQ Sauce
  6. In a small bowl, mix barbecue sauce and honey.
  7. Combine
  8. Return chicken to the skillet. Pour honey BBQ sauce over rice and chicken. Stir gently and simmer uncovered for 3–5 minutes until heated through.
  9. Serve
  10. Garnish with green onions and serve warm.

Notes

Use brown rice with additional liquid and cooking time.
Adjust honey for sweetness preference.
Add veggies like corn or bell peppers for variety.
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat gently on the stovetop or microwave.
