Ingredients
  

  • For the Lava Cake:
  • ½ cup 115g unsalted butter
  • 6 oz 170g semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • ¼ cup 50g sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional Toppings:
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Fresh berries
  • Vanilla ice cream

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease 4 ramekins and dust lightly with cocoa powder.
  2. Melt butter and chocolate together using a double boiler or microwave until smooth.
  3. Whisk eggs, yolks, sugar, and vanilla in a bowl until pale and slightly thickened.
  4. Combine mixtures: Slowly fold the melted chocolate into the egg mixture.
  5. Add flour and salt, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Pour into ramekins evenly and place them on a baking tray.
  7. Bake for 12–14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
  8. Invert onto plates while warm and serve immediately. Enjoy the molten chocolate center!
