French Dip Squares

These French Dip Squares turn the classic French dip sandwich into an easy, shareable, oven-baked dish that’s perfect for party food, lazy dinners, and easy lunch ideas. Made with buttery crescent dough, tender roast beef, melted cheese, and served with warm au jus for dipping, this recipe delivers all the comfort of french dip sandwiches without the fuss. Ingredients
  

  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 lb deli roast beef thinly sliced
  • 8 slices provolone cheese or Swiss cheese
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • For Serving
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 3 cups water

Method
 

  1. Preheat Oven:
  2. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. Bottom Layer:
  4. Unroll one can of crescent dough and press it evenly into the bottom of the baking dish, sealing any seams.
  5. Add Fillings:
  6. Layer roast beef evenly over the dough. Place provolone cheese slices on top of the beef.
  7. Top Layer:
  8. Unroll the second crescent dough and place it over the cheese, gently stretching to cover.
  9. Butter Topping:
  10. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, and black pepper. Brush evenly over the top dough.
  11. Bake:
  12. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  13. Prepare Au Jus:
  14. While baking, prepare au jus according to package directions.
  15. Serve:
  16. Let cool slightly, slice into squares, and serve warm with au jus for dipping.

Notes

Swiss cheese adds a more traditional french dip sandwich flavor.
