Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup self-rising flour or all-purpose flour + 1½ tsp baking powder + ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt non-fat or low-fat, thick consistency
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1 tsp garlic powder optional
  • 1 tsp onion powder optional
  • Toppings of choice: everything bagel seasoning sesame seeds, oats, or poppy seeds

Method
 

  1. Preheat Oven: Set oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Make the Dough: In a large bowl, mix flour and Greek yogurt until a dough forms. Knead gently until smooth.
  3. Shape Bagels: Divide dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and connect ends to form a bagel shape.
  4. Add Flavor: Sprinkle garlic and onion powder over the tops for a Garlic Onion Protein Bagel twist.
  5. Brush & Top: Whisk the egg and lightly brush over each bagel. Sprinkle with your chosen toppings.
  6. Bake: Place on the tray and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and fluffy.
  7. Cool & Serve: Let cool slightly before slicing and enjoy warm.

Notes

  • Use thick Greek yogurt for best results — watery yogurt will make the dough sticky.
  • To make gluten-free bagels, use a 1:1 gluten-free self-rising flour blend.
  • For sweet versions, skip garlic/onion and add 1 tsp cinnamon and 1 tsp honey.
