Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz 225 g whole grain or regular pasta
  • 2 cups broccoli florets chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup reserved pasta water
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: lemon juice or red pepper flakes for garnish

Method
 

  1. Cook the Pasta and Broccoli:
  2. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook according to package instructions. Add broccoli florets during the last 3 minutes of cooking. Drain, reserving ¼ cup pasta water.
  3. Sauté Garlic:
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  5. Combine:
  6. Add cooked pasta and broccoli to the skillet. Pour in reserved pasta water and sprinkle parmesan cheese. Toss until creamy and coated.
  7. Season and Serve:
  8. Season with salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon juice if desired. Serve warm, topped with extra cheese or chili flakes.
