Ingredients
Method
- Preheat waffle iron
- Preheat your waffle maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions until fully heated.
- Mix the dry ingredients
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Combine the wet ingredients
- In another bowl, whisk the eggs, then add milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
- Create the batter
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture. Stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix. The batter should be slightly lumpy.
- Fold in chocolate chips
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips, making sure they are evenly distributed.
- Lightly grease waffle maker
- Spray the waffle plates with nonstick spray or brush with melted butter.
- Cook the waffles
- Pour batter into the waffle iron (about ½–¾ cup depending on size). Cook for 3–5 minutes, or until the waffles are crispy and golden brown.
- Serve warm
- Serve immediately with whipped cream, fresh fruit, fudge sauce, or your favorite waffle toppings.
Notes
Super Crispy Tip: Replace regular milk with buttermilk for extra crunch and flavor.
Chocolate Melting Tip: If chocolate chips tend to burn on your waffle iron, mix half into the batter and sprinkle the rest on top before closing the lid.
Make Ahead: Cook waffles and freeze individually. Reheat in toaster or oven for 3–4 minutes.
Flavor Variations: Add cinnamon, cocoa powder, or a handful of chopped nuts.
Breakfast or Dessert: These waffles double as a fun dessert — top with ice cream and hot fudge for a “food cakes” inspired treat.
