Ingredients
  

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • Frosting chocolate buttercream, ganache, or whipped cream
  • Optional toppings: KitKat bars chocolate ganache drip, truffles

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch cake pans.
  2. Mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla; beat until smooth.
  4. Stir in boiling water slowly; batter will be thin.
  5. Pour into prepared pans. Bake 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Cool completely before frosting.
  7. Decorate with your choice: smooth frosting, chocolate drip, KitKat chocolate bars, or truffles.

Notes

  • Add espresso powder to intensify the chocolate flavor.
  • For a chocolate cake aesthetic, stick to smooth frosting and minimal decorations.
  • For a KitKat cake, place bars around the cake and tie with a ribbon.
