Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb chicken breasts or thighs boneless, skinless
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 8 small tortillas corn or flour
  • Toppings: shredded lettuce diced tomato, onion, cilantro, avocado, shredded cheese, salsa, sour cream

Method
 

  1. In a small bowl, mix chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  2. Rub chicken with olive oil and spice mix.
  3. Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 5–7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked (165°F / 74°C).
  4. Remove from heat and shred or slice into strips.
  5. Warm tortillas on a skillet or directly over an open flame for extra flavor.
  6. Assemble tacos: place chicken in tortillas, top with fresh toppings, and serve immediately.

  • For crispy chicken tacos, lightly fry filled tortillas in oil until golden.
  • For chicken birria tacos, simmer shredded chicken in rich tomato-chili sauce.
  • Use ground chicken for a quicker version of ground chicken tacos.
