Method
- In a small bowl, mix chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Rub chicken with olive oil and spice mix.
- Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 5–7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked (165°F / 74°C).
- Remove from heat and shred or slice into strips.
- Warm tortillas on a skillet or directly over an open flame for extra flavor.
- Assemble tacos: place chicken in tortillas, top with fresh toppings, and serve immediately.
Notes
- For crispy chicken tacos, lightly fry filled tortillas in oil until golden.
- For chicken birria tacos, simmer shredded chicken in rich tomato-chili sauce.
- Use ground chicken for a quicker version of ground chicken tacos.
- Double up tortillas for sturdier tacos, especially with lots of toppings.
