These chewy chocolate chip cookies are everything you love in a classic treat — soft in the center, slightly crisp on the edges, and packed with gooey melted chocolate chips. Made with simple ingredients, this easy chocolate chip cookie recipe delivers bakery-style cookies right from your own kitchen.
Servings: 20 cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  2. Whisk Wet Ingredients: In a separate large bowl, mix melted butter with brown and white sugar until creamy and smooth.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla until well combined.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Slowly fold dry ingredients into wet until just mixed. Avoid overmixing.
  5. Add Chocolate Chips: Gently stir in the chocolate chips.
  6. Chill the Dough: Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to enhance flavor and texture.
  7. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop dough balls (2 tablespoons each) onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 9–11 minutes until edges are golden.
  8. Cool and Serve: Let cookies rest for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Enjoy warm and chewy!

Notes

  • Don’t skip chilling the dough — it makes the cookies extra chewy.
  • Add a mix of dark and milk chocolate chips for richer flavor.
  • For fluffy chocolate chip cookies, beat butter and sugar longer.
  • Sprinkle sea salt on top before baking for a gourmet touch.
