Ingredients
  

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • Frosting of choice buttercream, whipped cream, or ganache
  • Decorations: sprinkles fruit, edible flowers, or themed toppers

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in vanilla.
  5. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately, mixing until just combined.
  6. Divide batter evenly between the two pans.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let cakes cool completely before frosting and decorating.
