Bakery Style Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips plus extra for topping
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment.
  2. Beat butter and both sugars until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
  4. Whisk flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt. Add to the bowl and mix just until combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips. Chill dough 30 minutes.
  6. Scoop large dough balls onto baking sheet, spacing well.
  7. Bake 10–12 minutes, until edges are set and centers still soft.
  8. Cool on the pan 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.

Notes

Chill longer (up to 24 hours) for deeper flavor.
Press extra chocolate on top before baking for a bakery look.
Freeze dough balls for up to 3 months — bake straight from frozen.
