Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (6–8 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¾ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Fresh parsley chopped, for garnish (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. If necessary, gently flatten the thicker parts so the pieces cook more evenly.
  3. Mix the Seasonings: In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, dried oregano, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Season the Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in the prepared dish. Drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice, then sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over both sides.
  5. Arrange in the Dish: Place the chicken breasts in a single layer with space between each piece.
  6. Bake: Bake for approximately 20–25 minutes, depending on thickness. Check the thickest part of each breast with a meat thermometer. Chicken is ready when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  7. Rest the Chicken: Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing. This helps preserve its juices.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired. Serve whole or sliced with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

Cooking time: Thicker chicken breasts may require additional baking time. Use a meat thermometer rather than relying on color alone.
Keep it juicy: Avoid overcooking and allow the chicken to rest before slicing.
Seasoning variations: Add Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, or a pinch of chili powder for a different flavor.
Serving ideas: Pair with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, rice, quinoa, or salad.
Storage: Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container within 2 hours and use within 3–4 days.
Freezing: Freeze cooked, cooled chicken in an airtight container for up to 3 months for convenient meals.
Nutrition: Calories are estimates and may vary depending on chicken size and the amount of oil used.
