Sure! Here’s a recipe for Turkish bread, also known as “pide”:

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 and 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 egg, beaten (for brushing the bread)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for sprinkling on top)

Instructions:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  • Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the olive oil and warm water.
  • Mix the ingredients together until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Allow it to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (240°C). If you have a baking stone or pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles. Divide the dough into two equal portions.
  • Take one portion of the dough and roll it out into an oval shape, about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) thick. Transfer the rolled dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Repeat the process with the second portion of the dough.

  • Brush the tops of the dough with beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.
  • Place the baking sheet(s) with the dough into the preheated oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Turkish bread is delicious when served warm and can be enjoyed with various dips, spreads, or used to make sandwiches. Enjoy!
