Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 can (14 ounces) refried beans
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups crushed tortilla chips
  • Optional toppings: diced tomatoes, sliced black olives, chopped green onions, guacamole, etc.

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef (or turkey) and onion over medium heat until the meat is browned and the onion is tender. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Add the taco seasoning to the skillet, along with the amount of water specified on the packet. Stir well and let it simmer for a few minutes.
  4. In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread an even layer of refried beans on the bottom.
  5. Spread the cooked meat mixture over the beans, followed by the salsa.
  6. Spread the sour cream evenly over the salsa layer.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the sour cream layer.
  8. Sprinkle the crushed tortilla chips evenly over the cheese.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
