Sure, here’s a recipe for making classic doughnuts at home:

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Oil, for frying
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  • Add the softened butter, milk, and eggs, and mix with a dough hook attachment until a smooth and elastic dough forms.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  • On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick. Using a donut cutter or two circular cutters of different sizes, cut out the donuts and donut holes.

  • Place the donuts and donut holes on a floured baking sheet, cover them with a damp cloth, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Heat the oil in a large pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F.
  • Carefully add a few donuts to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot, and fry them for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  • Use a slotted spoon to remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  • Repeat with the remaining donuts and donut holes.
  • If desired, dust the donuts with powdered sugar before serving.

Enjoy your freshly made homemade donuts!
