Dirt Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 (14.3-oz.) package of Oreos
  • 4 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 1 (3.4-oz) box of instant vanilla pudding
  • 1 1/2 cups of cold milk
  • 1 (8-oz.) block of cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 cup of heavy cream

Directions:

Step 1: Prepare the Oreo Crust
Using a food processor, finely crush the Oreos. Reserve ¾ cup of the crushed Oreos and place the rest in a large bowl. Add the melted butter to the bowl and stir until the mixture begins to hold together. Transfer this mixture into a 9”-x-9” baking dish and press it into an even layer.

Step 2: Make the Vanilla Pudding
In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until it thickens. Refrigerate this mixture for 10 minutes to allow it to firm up.

Step 3: Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture
Using a hand mixer, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together in a large bowl until no lumps remain.

Step 4: Whip the Cream
In another large bowl, beat the heavy cream until it forms stiff peaks.

Step 5: Combine the Mixtures
Fold the thickened pudding into the cream cheese mixture, and then gently fold in the whipped cream until just combined. Pour this creamy mixture over the Oreo crust in the baking dish and use an offset spatula to smooth it out.

Step 6: Chill and Serve
Refrigerate the dessert until it’s well chilled, which should take at least 3 hours or up to overnight. Before serving, top it with the reserved ¾ cup of crushed Oreos.
