Method:

  1. Cook the Ground Beef (Approx. 8 minutes): Place the ground beef in a large, dry pot or skillet over medium-low heat. Slowly cook it, stirring regularly to render out the fat. Continue until the beef is crumbly but not fully cooked, leaving some pinkness.
  2. Add Onions, Garlic, and Seasoning (Approx. 4-5 minutes): Once the beef is browned with most of the fat rendered out, increase the heat to medium. Add the chopped onions and garlic, cooking for another 4-5 minutes until they soften. Season the mixture with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Remove from heat.
  3. Toast the Buns (Approx. 2-3 minutes): Slice the rolls in half and toast them in batches on a griddle or in a large skillet over medium heat until they turn golden brown.
  4. Combine Cheese and Ground Beef (Approx. 2 minutes per sandwich): For each sandwich, portion out about 1/6 of the beef filling and place it on the griddle or skillet over medium-low heat. Heat it through, then top with two slices of American cheese. Allow the cheese to melt, and optionally, use the edge of a spatula to mix the cheese into the beef.
  5. Assemble the Sandwiches (Approx. 1 minute): Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on one side of your toasted roll. Place the roll, toasted side down, on top of the beef mixture.
  6. Finish and Serve (Approx. 1 minute): After 30 seconds, flip the roll with a spatula, keeping the filling inside. If any filling falls out, scoop it back into the roll. Repeat for the remaining sandwiches.
  7. Add Lettuce and Tomato: Include shredded iceberg lettuce and tomato slices to your liking. Cut the sandwiches in half and serve immediately.
  8. Leftover Filling: Store any leftover chopped cheese filling in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. To make sandwiches with it, heat it directly from the fridge on a griddle.

Make as many sandwiches as needed, and enjoy any extra filling!
